A review I’d published years ago popped up in my emails today for some reason. It took me by surprise. Back then, I hadn’t settled so clearly as I have now on meter as a key fulcrum for poetic change. Maybe that’s why the pattern I now see doesn’t seem to have occurred to me. But now I can’t avoid it.
