Ryan, totally agree that MFA programs need to teach meters! (the range of meters). For the record, I want to say I love buffoons (comes from ancient Italian holy fool; probably the original buffoons were great at meters) and I also love the fertile Darkness from where my own meters tend to arise (I hear them, rather than see them!) Onward with Meters!
Ryan I totally agree, you will not be surprised to know, that MFA programs need to teach meters (note the plural! they need to teach a range of meters, to be more exact—at this point, teaching only iambic pentameter is arguably worse than not teaching meter at all).
So many buffoons running MFA programs don't teach meter. Thank God Annie is out there fighting the Dark Side (Free Verse).
